Many years ago, a company named Gates introduced a concept never before seen on outdoor bicycles: a belt drive that performed like a chain. Their innovative system – called Carbon Drive – includes a carbon-fiber-reinforced belt with teeth for ultimate durability and true bicycle performance.

Over time, this system evolved from an innovative system to a mainstream solution used today on hundreds of models of outdoor bikes. Schwinn worked with Gates to adapt this breakthrough technology to their AC Performance Plus bike, and this is the result.
